Orange City Council offers a range of nurturing child care, pre-school and out of school options - each with its own unique characteristics, opening times and philosophy.

We are currently keen to hear from people who would be interested in joining our child care team on a casual basis.

The types of casual positions we may have available are:

Casual Early Childhood Teacher - Grade 8, $43.18 per hour (including casual loading)

For these positions you need:

  • Recognised Early Childhood Teaching Degree
  • Working With Children Check clearance
  • Current First Aid Certificate  
  • Demonstrated experience working in accordance with the National Quality Framework in providing an education and care service
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think laterally with strong creativity and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, being able to work to deadlines and set priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work and contribute as part of a team

Casual Diploma Trained Educator - Grade 5, $33.08 per hour (including casual loading)

For these positions you need: 

  • Diploma Level Education and Care qualification
  • Working with Children Check clearance
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated experience working in accordance with the National Quality Framework in providing an education and care service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong creativity and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, being able to work to deadlines and set priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work and contribute as part of a team

Casual Certificate III Educator - Grade 2, $27.99 per hour (including casual loading)

For these positions you need: 

  • Certificate III Level Education and Care qualification
  • Working with Children Check clearance
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated experience working in accordance with the National Quality Framework in providing an education and care service
  • Ability to think creatively and to problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to work and contribute as part of a team

To express your interest in working as a casual child care worker you need to answer a few questions as part of the online application below.  You will also be asked to attach your current resume which should include two recent employment related referees. Please note that you cannot submit your application without attaching your resume.  A cover letter is not required.  Council will only accept applications submitted on line.

In the event you are shortlisted for an interview, and are then selected to progress to the next stage following interview, you must be prepared to undergo the following pre-employment screening processes as part of the selection process:

  • A pre-employment physical examination (at Council's expense), including a hearing, eye sight and drug and alcohol test
  • Reference checking
  • Working with Children Check clearance
  • Council may also check authenticity of certificates and qualifications
